“With digital copy!” nice try.
Posted by jen February 17th, 2008 in Apple, Jen Likes TV, Jen@TheMovies, Jeneral, Media Junkie. 1 CommentI had a pitter patt in my heart when I opened the box of Family Guy Blue Harvest to be greeted with a inset saying how easy it was to use the second included disc for "digital copy" on a mac. It's the first such release with this new feature. I'm excited to see it, it's a great idea!
Inside it says: " Simply insert disc 2 into your Mac's DVD drive and 'Double click to transfer to Transfer Movie to iTunes' will guide you the rest of the way and.. once you have it…transer to iPod etc…". Great I think, I'll do that!
I insert it. It opens up a window with a nice graphic and a iTunes icon saying "Double Click to Transfer to iTunes" , I double click it like it says… and… nothing. I do it again… nothing. Again, nothing.
Obviously it doens't work as advertised, so I look in iTunes, there is the disc - I select it and BAM, up comes a screen with the title asking for a serial number, it's on the insert. Type type type… download starts.
So it worked - but not off the disc, I think. It downloaded it from iTunes, I think, not sure. But it worked, I think, as advertised, kinda. They need to do it on a mac a few times to get the instruction process down a bit more, I think.
I will say though that the Mac side was one paragraph of instructions (that didn't work) sharing the front with all the 'freakin' sweet' info, serial number and fine print, the whole other side was PC instructions with a four screenshot spread. WTFs up with that?
I got it in iTunes anyway for now, so that's somethin' I did this week other than be buried alive in pincushion orders. (how many times am I supposed to feel weird saying that?)

Posted by jen November 22nd, 2007 in Apple. 0 CommentsHow sad is this - until two weeks ago, this was my main design machine (and it has half the HD space this listing does) then my powebook died and I got the charming Clive, my MacBook Pro. Old Marcus is worth so little he's not worth selling.
Not that I was gonna, he's working his butt off now serving my fonts, files and pics. Kinda like a computer version of being put out to pasture. I will say that CS3 and Photoshop specifically ran fine on him too - just Dreamweaver was ungodly painfully slow!

Posted by jen May 1st, 2007 in Apple. 0 CommentsMicrosoft CEO Claims iPhone Will Be Bust so therefor the opposite must be true since everything he says about Apple is wrong because he’s a ignoramus.
Of course it won’t get significant market share! No cellphone has that! too many models, makers, etc. I rarely see more than two people with the same phone. The Razr cost the same when it first came out, and some others still are, so it’s not like it’s unheard of.

0 CommentsMy Apple announcement prediction
Posted by jen February 28th, 2006 in Apple. 2 CommentsApple is having some secretive announcement today. Everyone one is going apeshit with predictions from Apple buying Disney, touch screen iPod, Steve Jobs wearing a red shirt…
I don’t usually do this, but what the hell, I can play Apple prognosticator as well as the Apple sites…. and not be so eyes in the sky.
And my predition: iTunes/ITMS rebranding to…
iPod Media Store: I mean iTunes Music Store isn’t really accurate now since the app does more now that just music with podcasts, music videos, and tv shows.
I also think they will announce downloadable Hollywood movies. Nothing ground breaking, I predict no new hardware.
Either that or Steve Jobs will announce he’s leaving Apple again. God forbid.
EDIT: Man was I wrong! No new hardware? WTF was I thinking? I however stand by that the ipod Media Store needs to happen. No so impressed with the boom box,, there are a few of these out already. Meh, overall. Gee glad no one went crazy or anything.

Posted by jen February 15th, 2006 in Apple. 0 CommentsWhen I upgraded the Jaquar two years or so ago, I lost my second monitor in something I like to describe as “The Screwing of Jenny S.”
Jaguar + Sawtooth G4 Mac + Second suddenly unsupported ATI video card = Unhappy Jenny.
I went from having two monitors to just one 19″. I used my second for Palettes, and if you know Photoshop and Dreamweaver you know how many of those there are. Working now became a chore riddled with too many windows and too little patience. I got frustrated to work on it too long. But I could never bite the bullet and remove the now defunct monitor. I kept holding out hope someone would write a driver for the card, or that Apple or ATI would release an update - something. It never came.
Finally, after the long realization a new mac was NOT in my future anytime soon, I bit the bullet and perused the web for model info and eventually put a bid on ebay for a $30 ATI Radeon 7000 DVI card. It’s not the newest by any means, but for a pallette monitor it doesn’t have to be. It just has to work on my freaking system.
I installed it yesterday. Even though I couldn’t use the old mac monitor I had on my desk until now, and had to swap it out, it’s worth it. (Luckily I have a hubby who is in tech support and in charge of throwing away old hardware so we just happened to have an extra monitor in the back room.)

THIS is a beautiful thing!
Where I used to run at 800×600 at 256 colors (before “The Screwing of Jenny S”
I now am running 1024×768 at Millions on the side monitor. I’m actually better off than I was before.
I should have done this sooner. Two years sooner. Bah.

Posted by jen August 4th, 2005 in Apple. 0 CommentsDave gave me this link. I almost couldn’t believe it.
Apple releases multibutton mouse.
Dogs and cats sleeping together! The fall of western civilization! These are things I imagined before Jobs allowing a multibutton mouse to leave Cupertino in a box.
Look at that, it’s true. Apple is selling a multi-buton mouse… that looks like a no button mouse. With 4D scroll!
Oh be still my heart. Mamma want. Birthday on 5 days. Oh yeahhh.
The shocking thing about this is like Bush converting to the Democratic party.
Steve for years has flat out shunned multi button mice for macs, they work fine. Just plug any old USB one in no problemo, you don’t even need software. He just wouldn’t make them or ship them with machines. Not only is it 2 button, it’s really four, and yet it has NO buttons. And the ball is a 4D scroll. he went overboard - for Steve.

Posted by jen April 13th, 2005 in Apple. 0 CommentsSo I went here to find out for sure: iTunes Frequently Asked Questions
It says:
Q: Can I enter a Pepsi iTunes code at the iTunes Music Store after April 11th?
A: You may enter a code after April 11th for a free song credit and sweepstakes entry through April 30th. You may enter your code for a song credit only and download your song selection by May 23rd.
So:
– You can still get one an iPod mini sweepstakes with every code you put in until April 30th.
– Codes MAY be entered up to May 23, but after April 30 there will be no iPod mini sweepstakes entry for each code.
– YOU MUST download the songs by May23.
– April 11th is meaningless.
– Mad monkeys typing away hopped up on banana schnapps responsible for the confusion have been sacked.
Fare thee well little caps

Posted by jen January 20th, 2005 in Apple. 1 CommentThe made a documentary about cruise full of mac users. Geeks On Board - weeklong cruise with Woz, or Apple Employee #1. A tropical cruise with high speed wifi and a couple hundred geeks with mac laptops, looking at the beach from afar from the shade becasue laptop screens hate the sunlight.
Oh count me in. Mr Man would hate it, he’s the “when I’m off work I want to be no where near a computer” type. He hates it when I take the laptop on trips even to load pictures. (That’s how I conned him into an iPod) Dave you in? Now accepting donations!

He also says cheerleader who rebuffed him in high school “not that pretty, had a big butt and I think she was gay anyway”.
I love this part:
“It’s interesting the iPod has been out for three years and it’s only this past year it’s become a raging success.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, AHAHAH, hahahah haha, heh. Ha!
He been toking the ganja as well I see. I think he’s just a little miffed at their “iPod-killer”, the DJ, not flying off the shelves. (Dell used to sell iPods then came out with the DJ to keep a larger portion of the pie.)

Windows does in fact blow, and here’s some proof.
Posted by jen January 16th, 2005 in Apple. 0 CommentsArticle excerpt from the New York Times (12/16/2004):
Excerpt from Microsoft Geek Blogger
It’s the likelihood you’ll tell your friends, family, or readers about your new product. Apple’s product quality and marketing are working to make Apple’s brand love very high. Steve Jobs now gets applause just for displaying a product box.
Companies with low brand love (and, yes, I do count the company I work for on that list) will find it tougher to get adoption. Not impossible, though. Remember the Halo 2 lines? All you need to do is build the best-of-breed product and people will line up to buy.…
So, how does Apple manage to turn so many heads? Because PC makers busy are turning out too much crap like this that’s manages to look awful, be pretty less than impressive specwise and cost more. Yes MORE. And people diss’ Apple.
