I’m off Etsy

After 100% feedback, and 224 sales, I’m shut down. I can’t even have an account now, even to buy. They are turning me off on Tuesday completely and I am now grabbing all my customer data off.
Reason? Good Question. They cited “user complaints”, but won’t elaborate further. Since I can’t use the forums or Storque so I’m not sure what they can find to complain about me with, other than I work for Artfire and exist.
I cant say I’m surprised. I’ve been expecting this since September when I joined on at Artfire and announced it here on my blog, so this is just the other shoe dropping. I’ve more or less stayed on out of pure spite.
You can of course find me on Artfire for all your pincushiony needs.

That’s so weird because I was listening to your very interesting Craftsanity interview only last night…(I live in Australia) and I thougth, hey, I’m going to take a look at these great little pincushions…so I jumped onto etsy and they were all there…so lovely. I didn’t buy one (I bought your book instead) but popped back this morning to take another look and bam! All gone. Shop emtpy. I’ll make sure I check out Artfire asap. Silly etsy. Their loss.

thats weird that they won’t even talk to you about it. it seems they should have some sort of process to investigate or something.

Etsy is a clique of people who have blogs and promote only their friends. Sort of like a High School lunch table. Your in our out. The mean thing is, after you pay Esty to list your work, they send you mass emails pushing you to buy from selected crafters. I emailed them and asked if they would stop sending me emails to buy other peoples stuff and send those people emails to buy my stuff. They are unfair, and if Etsy insists on only promoting their pet crafters, then perhaps Etsy should only have their “select” sell on the site. People are realizing this and like you are moving to other “FAIR” selling sites, like Artfire and BigCartel.
Have you seen the little clique etsy blogs? Look around, you’ll want to barf.
