I hate Kristen Wiig on SNL. I do. All her characters are flat faced bores. Why do they keep giving her roles in movies? Why? How she still has a job I have no idea.

Anyway, we have been needing a new TV a while now, ours died several months ago and friend lent us hers from storage since they are better off being run than turned off for months in the cold.

Well, Mr Man got a bonus before leaving the new job so we’re TV shopping. Thought we’d finally move to a HDTV even though we won’t be actually getting HD programming for a while yet (we loves our TiVo).

We are looking at the 42″ size, and have a Plasma Samsung and a LCD Vizio in our scopes. Pros/cons? Anyone have a Vizio?

Jennifer Elizabeth Segrest of MIddeltown, OH was found dead under a pile of felt and thread clippings today. Cause of death was ruled asphyxiation and sugar overload. Instead of flowers her family asks for donations to the Craftaphalaxis Foundation.

Trying to get my Etsy orders out, had a big rush and now runnign about a 14 day turnaround. Ouch, I only have time in the evenings due to a logo gig I’m working on. I have to stop selling soon to make sure they arrive in time for xmas, i just started selling gift certs so hopefully that will help.

Funny, I would have thought PeterPanMan had a higher voice. But, GemSweaterLady still scares me.

How sad is this – until two weeks ago, this was my main design machine (and it has half the HD space this listing does)  then my powebook died and I got the charming Clive, my MacBook Pro. Old Marcus is worth so little he's not worth selling.

Not that I was gonna, he's working his butt off now serving my fonts, files and pics. Kinda like a computer version of being put out to pasture. I will say that CS3 and Photoshop specifically ran fine on him too – just Dreamweaver was ungodly painfully slow!

Every three or four years the past two decades the rumor would filter around that “Mr Whipple” was dead. Then the TV news would have to come out with news from his family or agent that “Mr Whipple is still alive.”

In another vein, for my fellow Durannies, this guy has a bunch of clips from one of Duran’s 14 or so performances on Broadway in concert up on youtube. In the clips are some of the new songs off the new album coming out next week. Woo! (if you don’t recognize the song name, its new!)

Tonight got back from Ginny’s in Columbus. She went mac a month or so ago with a gleaming new Macbook, and I went over for a mac play date to show her some mac ropes and some cool stuff that might come in handy and some basic app tricks/tips etc. I’m sure I’ll have more later, but it was a good 6 hours of total mac immersion.

We saw the new Apple Mac & PC commercial about leopard and Windoze VistAss* and howled mightily like only mac users can.

*For the record I want it noted that I coined the word “VistAss” to make fun of MS Vista on this date. (Can you trademark scorn?) Thank you. Now spread my unrecognized genius to the four winds!

This video gave me a excuse to try the new version of iMovie (ewww sux!) on my new Macbook Pro (Awesome).

Can't seem to find the pics I took of the unboxing. I took them. I pulled them off to the new laptop and… can't find them. gone! Dang! I'll keep looking but they don't appear to be in my photo library (I've installed iPhoto library manager since, I love that app)

Clive is beautiful though. One of my favorite features in Leopard is Cover Flow. You folks know it from iTunes, but now its an option to view ALL your files. When you do graphics, and most programs don't make you thumbs, being able to see what the image is is MASSIVE. It is already making my life cooler. And tring to find system icons? Cover flow is THE BEST way to scan those icon folders. Tres cool!

The touring company of Camelot is rolling into town soon, the lead is Loud Diamond Phillips. When the ads first appeared on tv I swore it was  MadTv skit and we were watching Tivo.  It's pretty odd to see a indian guy in long har and goatee in medieval costume. Just as startling though as a fat white guy in Japanese costume and I see that every sca event.

Got a new design gig lined up, cool. Should keep me busy a while.

The book I'm in is out! woo! it looks so cute, of course I'm a larg portion of it, so I might be biased. 

I've discovered Secondlife, so far all I'm doing is designing my avatar and flying, makes me happy enough, hehehe.

He arrived, he's gorgeous! Of course. I shot unvieling pics, still have to flickr them. i'm off to a client meeting right now.

This is a post for those googling for answers as I was.

If you buy a WD MyBook external hard drive and you have a mac and it won't mount or mounts indiscriminately like mine did, the drive was not visible on the network at all, wasn't able to be re-permissioned, and only able to even get it to mount 1 time out of 10. And only via firewire: USB would not work at all.

Before you pull out your hair or do ANYTHING ELSE, if you get it to mount at all that is, go to Disc Utitlity and erase/reformat the drive to Macintosh format (journaled). Mine came in Ms-DOS format before that. DOS!

Clive left the warehouse 20 minutes south, to drive to another facility 20 minutes north, who dispatches my town. So he's already run by the house, now he's headed back. argh!

Gimme my laptop already! I had dreams about it all weekend, no lie!

The new MacBook Pro is scheduled for arrival today. Hopefully early in the day on the first truck out, since I know it's been in town since Friday. Also coming is a new WD Mybook 500GB hrd drive, and an Airport Extreme. Finally some freaking signal strength in this house! (note to self: charge batteries for proper unboxing ceremony photos for flicking later)

My memory upgrade is scheduled for arrival as well. I paid for that with the sale of my old powerbook on ebay. I wld have posted it here for any interested folks looking for a fixer-upper, but some guy did a 'buy it now' for $150 within 20 minutes of it going up so I never had the chance. Listed it, went to the bathroom, and came back and it was over! The fact that one of his past ids is "mac-scrap" rather saddens me. I was hoping Howie would get a second life, but sintead it looks as if he's destined for parts bin.

I'm hoping the book my pincushions and projects are in arrives today too! It came out November 1. A pal of mine already got hers the day it was released from Amazon but they are slow in getting me MINE! Until I called them to whine they still had it listed on pre-order. Some local Barnes and Nobles have them already according to the website, but my chances of leaving the house to look for it while waiting for, and delighting in, my new Macbook Clive are unlikely. I doubt I leave the house/sleep/be productive for a week. At least. We had hoped to swing down to Montgomery Road to find one, but it never happened this weekend.

New Duran Duran album out November 13 – if it's half as good as the last one it'll be merely great! (Shannon got a fiancee out of the last one, so this one might be a let down for her)

Anyone else notice that the recent shots of James Lipton on TV look as if he was french kissing a mime? The rest of his face looks normal enough (as normal as he can look anyway)  the the entire area inside his goatee around his mouth is as pale as a zombie's butt.

Buh, creeps me out.
