Tv thoughts

Viva Laughlin, based off the hit Brit Series Viva Blackpool, was cancelled after two episodes and will not even air what they have left of it. TWO. That's faster than Fox cancels things, and they've cancelled shows during the producer's potty break. (Didn't anyone in Hollywood learn anything from Cop Rock? Americans don't like singin' on Drama shows.)

The caveman series lives. it's not great but I actually did laugh at a couple points during the ep where it's about IKEA, well not "IKEA" but instead called "NørdBild" or something.

But how sad is it that award winning series with Tony award winning actors can't do two eps and men dressed as whiny urban Neanderthals makes it to six so far. Oh right, Americans don't give a crap for Tonies. It's the Soccer of the awards world.

  • Digging on Torchwood.
  • Miss Dr. Who already. Martha left - boo!
  • ER - Bring my LUKA back!
  • House: damn! I hated all his old staff! Make them go away! I suggest blowing them up and setting the pieces on fire. I hate them all.
  • Life: don't think it's gonna make it, it's a little too quirky, winding and dark and seems to be refocusing andnt for the better.
  • Bionic woman doesn't half suck, warming up to it but then I'm watching for Katee Sakhoff who plays mean punk ass kick your butt six ways to Tuesday cybergirl like no one, her second such role, though I fear she's being typecast.
  • Heroes is just warming up nicely. I think Nathan has absorbed some of Pete's powers from the blast, the one pete didn't seem  to manifest: Nickie's split personalities.
  • Where the hell is LOST and Medium, it's like almost November already!
  • I miss Burn Notice! (anyone else watch that? It was on USA during the summer and we loved it, it's just great. Can't wait for next summer! Awesome show, fun ashell, hot leading man and Bruce Campbell too - can't beat that. Catch it on repeats.)
  • I'm seriously jonesing for Battlestar. I have to find out what happened to Katee, er… Starbuck!

I hate to wait! Grr!

Within a scant 48 hours I will be ordering my mew MacBook Pro and an extra external 500GB hard drive, since it's so damned cheap. (and likely a new airport express, to improve up my signal) Waiting for a check to clear never took so damn long!

What I'm pondering is names. For those that don't know, its pretty common for mac users to name their computers. And not like "HD1", but real names.

Currently, with the exception of Howie the EX-powerbook (He's not dead, he's pining!), my macs and drives have been named after either scifi/fanatasy hotties (For instance my external is named "trider"). This time I'm leaning to swarthy, brooding hunky eurotrash actors that I'm so fond of.

The current favorite for the ProBook is Clive, after Clive Owen of course who is the object much desire. (If you haven't seen'hoot'em Up' in theatres - GO NOW!!! It's probably in second run cheap screens! Good! See it twice!

Any name suggestions accepted, and second place finishers will go to the external.

And oh yes, in accordance with the "where's my damned camera!?" postings of a few years ago, I'll be doing hourly updates following my baby's progress in shipping home to me, and then flickr/blog the box opening ceremony. Aren't you excited? I know I am.

I really should start picking out some sexy music for the occasion, maybe some Barry White.

I'd send them a certificate but it seems like too much work.

Most of country screwed again.

"Galactica Screenings Set
Sci Fi Channel and sponsor Microsoft are bringing preview screenings of the new two-hour extended episode Battlestar Galactica: Razor to select movie theaters on Monday, Nov. 12, in an event managed by National CineMedia. Screenings will take place in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Dallas and Seattle. Scifi Channel said about the event, "Fuck the rest of the country, only the biggest cities get handjobs from us!"

Okay they didn't say that lat sentence outright, but they think it. Obviously. Feh.

Sid is awesome.

So a few weeks ago maybe Sid, a reader and fellow pincushion flickrati, emailed me asking for my address and that I "wouldn't be sorry".

Boy was she right! Friday my packet from the "office of Zombie affairs" arrived filled with check lists and plans f action in case of a zombie uprising. And even a wallet card and door hanger if we should suffer a Zombie infestation.  So much better than a red X on the door.

I grabbed it out of the box on the way out to have lunch with some of Mr Man's former coworkers who had been fired in totally crappy way the day previous and needed to comiserate how they all got axed and have a grand bitch session (and it was, three hours! I opened the envelope the way there and at points was laughing so hard I couldn't see straight, good thing he was driving. Really made our day.  I'm putting the door hanger on the front door for trick or treat. Maybe a couple of the zombie sheets too.

The next day out of the mailbox comes another package from Sid. This time it's a totally cool embroidered skull and scissors little lash thing for my scissors. Or maybe a book mark too. To be truthful my cat wanted to wear it immediately so she sported it for a hour with the back knotted before I rescued it and it now hangs on my felt cabinet. (She likes to wear jewelry, okay? Just don't ask me how I know that.)

Sid, babe, you are at the top of my kick ass broads list!

I should probably share the pics my felt cabinet. (no the office/studio is still undone) It will convey the pure madness of my felt obession/business/thing…

common looking cabinet...Holy cow......little obsessed are we?

Oh yeah I'm one sick puppy. I have more felt (both color-wise and amount-wise) than the crafts stores I buy it from.

New Macbook Pros are hot

Not "That's hawt" in a Paris Hilton way, but hot in a "omfg my wrists are on fire!" way.

I'm at the Apple store in Cinci shopping, only shopping for a new macbook pro. Wish me luck that if I pick on he'll let me have it after all.

Oh to dream.

Seeking Apple Employees

Howie the G4 Titanium 400mhz powerbook entered a coma today about 3pm. Unable to resusitate from a blue screen during startup. He is 7 years old.

Is anyone out there a Apple Employee who can help me cut a nice bargain? Want a new Macbook Pro, but a plain macbook is fine too, and more obtainable pricewise.

Anyone? Help. Please?

Weird Story of the day

Okay, Mr Man has gotten a job offer for a slightly different career swerve that he's sure he'll like, hoobah! Now I have to get me one.

I am a pincushioning fool with trying to get out orders and make some for my sponsor for a big international quilting tradeshow they are going to at the end of the month. Sales had slacked off but noooooo, when I need them to hold off, here they come!

Howie, my beloved powerbook, is spiraling down the drain I fear. He blew a RAM chip, and after replacement, is now giving me random kernel errors and crashes. Please send Howie your prayers if it is your thing. He's been a good faithful buddy since 2001. (Yes 2001!) He will be missed. He's run daily for at least 6 hours a day, most days more, and runs all the most current software and OS X version. Suck on that windoze. I'm hoping that it's just some leftover franic panic from the last crasheriffic week. Mr man has asked ME how much a replacement would be, truth is I use this more than I use the tower, so a kick ass 'book might be in the future. (distant, very distant)  Now accepting donations!

ER is on, and right now bad weather is coming in and Channel 5 has interupted the show for over 10 minutes. Down weatherboy! Abby's son is hurt damn you! Don't you care?!

Wisdom of the ages

So last week I saw Elizabeth:The Golden Age ( Clive Owen in period costume. The other costumes.) and Tivo somehow knew and recorded me a show on the Spanish Armada.

In it one of the interviewed scholars mentions Philip of Spain's, the religious nut's, famous quote when planning a naval battle "God will send us good weather" Then the scholar says someting on the line of "peity isn't strategy".

President McChimpikins certainly comes to mind on both quotes.

Things are looking up

I didn't mention that the day before we found out about the man's aunt and cousin in MS that I was fired? I didn't do anything wrong they just decided to go to send all the design to a studio local to the owne (outsourcing design = bad idea!). So that sucked, especially since it was Mr Man's last day at work too, leaving the job after 12 years because it recently it went south. Then Saturday we got teh news on his family - that was one awful 24 hours for the record books.

Good news is he has numerous suitors sniffing around and even secured a 6-month temp job with decent enough pay doing what he has experience in that will buy him time for one of these others that is more sutiable and better paying to come through. And that might be before he even starts the temp job. So that's cool! I'm not worrying about him finding a job so many things are up in the air, one of them has to fall on this side of the line.

I've had some calls as well, so keep yer fingers crossed.

My article on pincushions and some how to's is out.

The book I'm in is coming out in November.

I've signed up to teach classes on pincushions at the Joann Superstore in Dayton.

Mississippi has sucky wireless

We left Ohio monday for the state of Mississippi because something awful happened in Mr Man's family. The ladies listed are Mr Man's Aunt, and her daughter.

I've never been here before, sucky situation to have to go. The 'skeeters' are eating me alive, seems I'm a succulent yankee delicacy.

Hoping to score: catfish, bbq, and a decent wireless signal.
