Thoughts on Battlestar and Heroes
Posted by jen December 2nd, 2006 in Jen Likes TV.Being I haven’t seen NBC Must See Thursday since Channel 5 In Sinsinnasti pushed all the shows till tomorrow spread out over 12 hours… for a stinkin’ Bengals game I haven’t seen The Office or I’d include it. (but I hear it was most awesome.)
I’ll hide it for those who don’t want spoilers…
Battlestar Galactica:
Mr man said it was boring, I though it was anything but.
Thought one - Wow. I know they hinted that Lee and Kara had some issues after finding New Caprica, hell they’ve had issues since Ep1, but that I did not expect. That the little looks Lee and Dualla shoot each other when Kara calls for Antibiotics for her husband way back at the end of season 2… and every look Lee and Kara shot each other had this unrevealed backstory from 18 months before… Kara is so messed up. And that last part with the boxing match (no spoilers there you see that in the previews) just broke my heart.
Thought 2 - I think Olmos can grow a mustache on command in 30 minutes or less.
Heroes: I have a theory about Sylar. His power is stealing powers.
If you notice that he killed his first victim, who was a telekinetic, and until Sylar killed him (with his bare hands and a rock to the head) Sylar had no power that could be uncovered. Then the next thing you know, he can move a glass like his victim.
His power seems to be growing as the murders continue with good reason; he takes the power from his vicitims. Where Peter inherits it for short periods of time in proximity, Sylar steals it like a thief. He’s a power vampire.
There is also it think something with the way they have to die. If I recall correctly each victim he’s killed after the first have been violet and gory head injuries with sometimes entire tops of the skulls ripped off. There is something about the brain I think that makes this transferral of power happen. I bet somewhere along the line he learned that, probably after killing one without the skull injury and that’s why the murders are so heinously gruesome, he’s making sure he gets what he wants.
So who wants to chime in on that?

My first theory was he was eating the brains to steal the powers.
I thoughgt about the eating brains, too, but it’s not. Remember when they showed him fixing the watches? His power is fixing things. Hecan sense something is different or “broken” and can fix them. The area Sylar went bad is he saw where the telekenesis guy had something “broken” in his brain where it had evolved and developed the TK ability. He ripped the brain out to see where it was changed and modified his own to switch the power on. I’m betting when they pull his hat off, you’ll see a ring around his skull cap where he’s removed it. Which is probably also why it’s so important to keep Claire away from him.
