The Too Full TV Conundrum
Posted by jen November 2nd, 2006 in Jen Likes TV.Okay, so, I am gonna have to shoot a few network programmers.
See, Wednesdays and Thursdays are going to to kill the Tivo I’ve figured out, a couple of these show time slots switches haven’t even happened yet and already trying to figure out how to tape up to four networks between 8-10 PM when my TiVo only does two tuners at once. Here’s what I’ve figured out.
(Now whether we watch it live or record it all it’s still a tuner in use. We can record two channels at once, and watch something already recorded at the time, but if you want to watch one and record one, it’s just easier to record everything to ensure you get to see it regardless and delete as you go. We are really good about deleting.)
So here is Wednesday’s Growing Ball of Confusion:
Medium is coming back on the 15th - and it and Lost, and Ghost Hunters are ALL going to be on at 9pm.
Since I only have two lines to record on so I’ll end up having to record two (watching one) and be forced to record Ghost hunters at 12am EST (repeat for the West Coast) showing to see it at all since it’s a no miss show for us. Only way to make this Work.
Thursdays also have Way Too Much Must See TV:
NBC: 8-10 - My Name is Earl, The Office, and ER.
Scrubs will be in this stretch soon as well, but NBC has once more decided to hold it for a bit before showing it, so it comes back the 30th - at 9pm. They treat that show like a $2 Ho, I tell ya. It’s too good for that kinda treatment. They are bumping it currently for that crappy Deal or No Deal “game” show. (Guessing barely qualifies as a game if you ask me.)
ABC: Ugly Betty @ 8 - won’t die if I miss it, but it is kinda fun.
CBS: CSI @ 9
Since we actually have West Coast CBS and FOX feeds out of LA (and have since before locals were available on Direct TV) I can actually re-set Tivo to record off that one instead to be able to fit it in after Scrubs comes back.
FOX: We’ve been taping “Til Death” on Fox LA but we’ll likely drop it. It’s funny but you can’t carry off newlywed storylines after a couple years. Besides, let’s face it, it’s on Fox, they’ll kill it off before too much longer anyway, so it’s doomed regardless.
Networks are all all vying for the same two nights! There are SIX OTHER NIGHTS PEOPLE! Mondays and Tuesday are kinda bare, and so are Fridays! Saturdays are DED - dead! With my luck Comedy Central will move Reno 911 to Wednesdays or Thursdays and my head will explode and the issue will be solved once and for all.
Tivo does some of this for me thankfully, god bless that silver box of joy. It will record one over the other according to they way things are listed on my season pass list in priority, so I’ll need to go shuffling the order a bit to help it along. A few little switches and a check of my todo list should be all the confirmation I need.
I’ve actually spent over an hour writing this, running over my various Tivo lists and a couple network webpages to figure this all out. How sad is that?
