I remember getting more than a few as a kid and at one point throwing one away weeks later covered in dust and hair from somehow getting under my bed.
Randumb TV thots
Posted by jen September 29th, 2006 in Jen Likes TV. 0 CommentsMy name is Earl: Haha!
Always great as usual, I love that Carmelita made her living as a exotic dancer than just jumped up and down, she steals the show when she’s on. I was amused by Burt Reynolds guest starring. I htink it’s the first major star to do so that wasn’t also a Scientologist (as jason Lee is).
The Office: Damn!
I just want Jim to come back to Scranton and be with Pam. damn it. I give him six episodes for it to happen.
CSI: hwah?
Willows gets rufied’ and mock raped (they made it look like she was, but was’nt) then they hit her with a car and kidnapped her daugther and then sent hte pictures of her bound daughter and naked self to her casino owning father… then her daddy gets shot in the heart by a sniper with talking with Catherine.
I’m not so sure they were after dad. I think they out to break her. We’ll see if I’m right…
ER tonight: Holy crap.
Mom and I had our usual Post ER wrap up and were both in shock that for ER it was a unexpected upbeat and happy episode. That’s like a first! No one died, the baby lived, it ended all happy, Jerry is alive, Sam got off scot free for shooting creepo prison escapee murdering bastard of a hubby, even slavilicious Luka was smiling at the end… WTF? And then topit off with evil hag demon Carrie being demoted – score!!! I almost wasn’t sure I wasn’t watching some kinda of dream sequence trick.
Luka and Abby are the usual whipping children of doom since Carter left, I can only guess that the new baby will succumb to spontaneous human combustion next week. Now there’s the issue of Neela, which Young stud doc will she go for? I like the Stamos, but there is something I just like about ex-roomie rock star with her better.
Dr Who: Returns tomorrow
As much as I liked the new (old) Doctor, I hear the new (young) doctor is even better. He certainly is a cutie pie, and I’m a sucker for a british accent regardless.
Battlestar Galactica: returns soon!
Holy freaking cow, about time! I’m about ready to die here!!! Arghhh!!!
Colbert Show tonight:
Holy cow , Woz totally had Colbert speechless… how often does that happen??? he came {this} close to laughing out loud too. (catch the repeat tomorrow at 730)
AND: I’ve noticed I tend to like actors with large noses… (I could give a list but there’s just not room) What do you think that means?
In decidedly NON-TV thot:
The new Weird Al album is great, really really great. The parody of R Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet is called Trapped in the Drive Thru and is unbeliveablly funny. It reminds me of every conversation me and the man have abot going out to dinner. One song not on it, due to a record company hassle, is being given out online free. (The video is here.)

See???
I advise you to start int he archives month by month, it’s easier, and you can just scroll down through them… providing hours of time wasting is my specialty!
Phone call to Mr Man at work
Posted by jen September 27th, 2006 in Jeneral. 0 CommentsMr Man: Hello?
Me: Hey. We need TP. Can you pick up some on your way home?
Mr Man: Just use the curtains.
Me: Well, I would but they are getting pretty rank. You know how I hate doing laundry.
Mr Man: We got a backyard…
Me: Yeah Gary and I can scoot around back there together.
Mr Man: He’d like that.
Me: Oh wait, here kitty kitty…
Mr Man: There ya go!
Me: The nice thing about cats is they are self-cleaning.
It should be noted this is pretty typical banter around here.
Weird Al’s new video
Posted by jen September 27th, 2006 in Video Funtime. 0 CommentsJust proves again he’s a musical genius, and can pretty much capture any style AND stay relevnat after 20 years. (And besides, seeing Donny osmond dance in the background is hilarious)
More odds and ends
Posted by jen September 27th, 2006 in Media Junkie. 0 CommentsWatch the video on this page by Keith Olbermann: A textbook definition of cowardice. The page text is the transcript, but it needs to be watched.
Speaking of watching: I’m watching the today show… eBay has a fashion director????
In other news: This blog has a few posts of note to read, including:
Cliche Scifi plots points must die!
Part one | Part two (They also have a couple other scifi topics on the side bar)
Some of these, as a scifi whore myself, are on my list, but I could add more than few others:
DNA mutations turning the victim into a completly alien creature or some kinda of species other than human… and then top it with being the doctor finding some way to cure it with a shot or something simplistic. Cellular mutation is usually not cureable. At very least it’s cancer. I’m sorry you are gonna die if you turn into a Lizard overnight… you just are.
Alternate Universes: Stargate has several slightly different variants and dips into that pool often, Star Trek has ONE but it’s bizzaro world where every one is smarmy and evil, and personality wise polar opposites of thier ‘this world selves”. Everytime I see one I just scream and turn the channel.
Surgical enhancement to masquarade as another species or race – don’t even get me started.
Accessing, patching into alien technology and computer systems in 4.5 seconds despite obvious differences of language, computer format and interface: “I can try, okay I’m in!” Arrrrghhh!
Time travel – stop jumping around inte time! AHHH!!! B5 is the only show I think that did it right, and they only did it once (you just saw both sides in two eps two seasons apart)
Odds and ends
Posted by jen September 26th, 2006 in Jen Likes TV, Odds & Ends. 0 CommentsChurch Marketing Sucks has lots to read. Which church signs suck, how awful church newsletters are… but I just sent them these sites (that my brother sent me).
New Birth Church’s intro must be seen to believed in it’s flash excess. It was done by this guy who only seems to do work for black megachurches who need sites that vibrate (The ladies like it, if you catch my drift…
.
In other news, saw some of the new tv NBC shows last night.
I saw Heroes. I think I liked it, I liked parts of it for sure, but I think it’s gonna be one of those shows you just have to watch for it to click much, I’m fine with that. Nothing esle is on that night. I loved the japanese guy, but not sure what the Stripper mom’s powers are yet. My freind MizG said “Avenging Angel” with a kind of personality implant… I think that might be it. LIke the Hulk, only blonde, hot and in a g-string bulging with singles.
I finally caught Studio 60, after missing last weeks pilot and hearing good thigns. Uhm… whoever said the nice things needs a lobotomy. It really reeked of West Wing for me; that is lots of walking in hallways, and talking, and talking while walking in hallways, as well as lots of little “issues” crop up with thinly vield attempts at drama. Not to mention I REALLY HATED West Wing. The Sorkin Touch is posion as far as I’m concerned. i’m sure I’d eat cookies he made. And I love cookies.
Another thing that bugs me about Studio 60 is that NBC thinks we give a shit about Saturday Night Live and that we want to know what goes on behind camera. I can honestly say Uh, no I never have. They can’t keep it funny in front of the camera, what makes me thing the backstage is any more inticing. Funny is serious work. Serious work is boring. (And NBC seems to think we wanna know SO much about SNL-type shows they have TWO of them! GAG!). Did I mention I also hate shows about shows?
I like Chandler Bing and all, but if I watch this again it will only becasue NOTHING else is on monday nights since they moved Medium to SUNDAYS after football (emmy winning show moved to mid season??) WHY I have no idea! Build and audience on a DEAD night, and then do a bait switch. So far i’m not seeing anything to keep me on NBC Monday Nights and not going back to what I watch the rest of the year – Unwrapped on Food Tv.
You Tube Monday
Posted by jen September 25th, 2006 in Diversions, Jen Likes TV. 0 CommentsOk a quick smattering for LG15 watchers, I somehow m issed them mybe you did too…:
Lonelygirl15 (and freinds) interview on MTV (part I, part II, part III) and CNN
Forget mentos and Coke… try other combinations! (check out their other videos especially the Emmy one…
The decription of Part one says”This is a pilot produced for the WB by the writers of Scrubs and Family Guy. it’s very funny, very different, and deserves to be seen by all.” Looks like it was supposed to run last year, no idea if it did. It’s weird enough I just might.
Indeed, anything by the minds behind Scrubs is worth a watch. That show is hilarious! (and on Comedy central M-F at 7 now! Great time for you slackers who never caught on to watch).

It’s really good, if you can stomach the right wing christian overtones, but really long. I bet it gets made into a movie. If you want an even longer version, here’s The book the article comes from…
Wal-Mart has a all out hissy fit
Posted by jen September 23rd, 2006 in Jeneral. 0 CommentsBecause iTunes is now selling movies… – never mind they are cheaper because no shipping or production for packaging is involved, or that iTunes downoads will likely NOT have hours more of deleted scenes and discs crammed with extra features that people love…
iTunes movies are for those who want a movie on the laptop or to watch for the day, or to stay on the laptop or ipod… DVDs are for those who want all that extra garbage – and now when I DO buy a DVD it will sure the hell not be at Walmart (not that I ever did more than once anyway, but I am just sick of thier arrogant strong arming of vendors).

PC from the Apple ads, on the left of course, is named John Hodgman and as well as being on The Daily Show is an author and on a book tour with infamous internet songwriter Jonathon Coulton (only coastal dwellers will be so lucky), he also has a blog and is keeper of the 700 Hobo Project and one hell of a funny dude.
I kill me
Posted by jen September 20th, 2006 in Flickr Addict. 0 CommentsI’m still laughing over this from this weekend. I toyed over whether to share it or not since it’s SCA related but thought I would anyway.
So I met up with Karen and Jeff – bloggers, readers, and sca folks – who just escaped from Florida to Indiana (escape from indiana is part II to come later) and we went out to dinner At Craka’Barrel after the event. As we walk out we meet up with some other locals scadians hanging on the “porch” this conversation moves to local feasts with theme meats:
Local: ” blah blah blah… owns a blank-farm.”
Me: (didn’t hear what he said) Elf farm?
Jeff: (laughing at me) Elf Farm?
Me: Hey, I’d eat elf. I bet it’s minty.
Thank yewwwww, please tip your waitress! Goodnight!

Posted by jen September 19th, 2006 in Flickr Addict, Media Junkie. 0 CommentsForget the Mary water stain on that wall. Dime a dozen. Just saw a local story on the morning news. This redneck dude found this turtle crossing the road, no really, and the markingson it’s back one side look liek a E and the other a 3… wait for it… it’s a Dale Earnhardt turtle. To top it off he says everytime the turtle hits the ground it tries to head south. I’m assuming to Daytona.
If i find a link I’ll post it just to prove I’m not making this up.
And now two from my darling brother:
25 worst websites – I’ve actully been to mosst of these, I just didn’t know they were still there! Here’s the list if you want to skip to the end…
Check this wedding cake out:

Here’s the whole story! Short story: It was the bride’s surprise gift to the groom. Aww….

The extra 50 cents makes all the difference. The cheap ones feel like sandpaper.
I know youre not “supposed” to put the qtip into the ear canal, I do it anyway as I find my ears seem to have taken up wax production for export sales to Mexico.
TMI, I know, but there you go. Thats what I have today.
Because Beaker rocks.
Posted by jen September 15th, 2006 in Video Funtime. 1 CommentHave I mentioned my love of the Muppet Show? And Beaker being one of my faves? NO? Watch it anyway.
And where was this four years ago?
Okay so maybe I don’t want to go
Posted by jen September 14th, 2006 in Jeneral. 0 CommentsNot that I ever did, mind you, but this pretty much sums up what I thought Burning Man would be exactly like despite never having been there.
Ironically many of these complaints COULD be made against Pennsic (the medieval weeklong extravaganza I go to every year with 14K other medieval freaks and no tourists), but I will say pennsic has a generous rulebook and dress codes. The seedy sex elements are everywhere where you have a bunch of people, you just dont have to look for it it sounds like at burning man.
But Pennsic is only $90 a person for a week, and you easily seee where the money goes. They have A LOT of staff, and a lots of services… tents, buildings, stores, water, security, portopots with nearly two shifts of rented staff, even public transortation – I’ve never felt it’s a rip. And god knows the wilds of western PA is certainly less dangerous in August than the middle of an arrid desert in BFE.
You knew it was coming
Posted by jen September 12th, 2006 in Media Junkie. 1 CommentLonely Girl15 is outed as a fake. and for some media vaslidation Here’s the LA Times article on it all.
More videos are coming, they say, but how many people will watch? I probabaly will.
Of course some still say the confession is a scam, made by som imposter online, but then the lonelygirl15.com site went down hard, and no one “involved” is talking to anyone at all about anything and can’t seemd to be reached. So Fake? Or faked fake?
My brain hurts.
Go Bucks!
Posted by jen September 12th, 2006 in Media Junkie. 0 CommentsOSU wins against Texas Longhorns – who says only Detroit and LA get to have that burn and pillaging post game fun?
Has it been that long?
Posted by jen September 10th, 2006 in Jeneral. 2 CommentsChrist I dont think i’ve gone this long without posting except when I’ve been on vacation. No vacation, just noting going on. Other than being hooked on 3D TEtris
This is Burning Man.

Look at the Original size for details. It’s big, so dialup folks, dont even bother.
I like that it’t s circle in a pentagon. Cool. Doesn’t make me want to go though. Even though I go to pennsic, I kinda really hate camping.
Argh!
Posted by jen September 5th, 2006 in Bitch Session. 1 CommentMirren, walking onstage to accept an Emmy for her leading role in HBO’s “Elizabeth I,” joked that “My great triumph is not falling ass over tit coming up those stairs. If you saw the shoes I’ve got on, you would understand.”
Calista Flockhart repeated the “ass over tits” statement.
PTC President L. Brent Bozell noted that NBC was the network that aired the 2003 Golden Globes telecast in which musician Bono referred to something as “f—ing brilliant,” a statement that subsequently prompted the FCC to act.
1: I think a course of action is clear. Don’t let Limeys present – they curse more as a general rule and are allowed to on TV so are not concious of it.
2: Kids don’t watch the emmy’s anwyay. They barely watch the MTV awards.
3: Religious and parental nuts wanting to sanitize everthing need stopped.
4: Beyonce has fat knees. (oh sorry, watching Ellen right now)
Oh and this from the net – for us BSG freaks:
Beginning tonight the television series “Battlestar Galactica†will travel from outer space into cyberspace. The Sci Fi Channel, which broadcasts the series, has created online mini-episodes, the first of which is scheduled to be posted at midnight. (link)
