Opening day
Posted by jen April 3rd, 2006 in Jeneral.Opening Day is a big in Cinci as it’s team is always the home the traditional first game of the major league baseball season because the Reds were the first professional team.
It’s mad popular in Cinci. Stores and businesses close down, people don’t show up for work (I think I read somewhere it’s the most called off day of the year), kids are pulled out of school, there’s a parade that fills downtown and families line the streets to watch.. Opening Day has a countdown like christmas on the newscasts. People from out of town don’t get it, people form other baseball towns are always surprised how big a day it is. Bigger than Jesus big. People from New York City think Cincinnati is full of unbelievable sports fans, and since they think they do everything bigger and better than anyone that should say something.
As if shutting down streets and highway exits for this thing isn’t enough, today they are making it worse by having PRESIDENT FREAKING BUSH do the first pitch. They shut down the highways when he comes here. And baby, if you don’t have a highway to get there, you don’t go. Ohio is ALL about highways. We have more interstate mileage than any other state with our major federal crossroads 70, 71, 75, 76, 80…
Bush makes this place a screaming mess. I can’t belive he’s coming here to throw a stinking baseball. Doens’t he have like more important things to do? Ya know, that whole war thing, assigning cronies to top posts, and making evolution appeat untrue by being dumber than a chimp?

I’ll bet he can’t even get the ball to the plate.
