Rant alert: World Idol
Posted by jen December 29th, 2003 in Media Junkie.No, didn’t watch it. But this caught my attention:Norway’s entrant has been accused of being immensely talented, even slated to possibly win it all, but alas they say he’s “ugly”.
Does he look ugly to you?
Okay, I don’t think he is. I think he’s a good looking guy. And isn’t talent supposed to count for something? They called Kurt the Norge a Hobbit, A HOBBIT!
I think this guy looks more like a hobbit personally… but I don’t think he’s ugly either. (The Hobbits in the hew movies were all pretty cute if you ask me, however they might be thinking the Rankin-Bass animated hobbits and not the Elijah Wood generation.)
In fact, there is not a bad looking one of the group.
People tick me off.

Speaking for myself, one who would be more often than not described as ugly, I can attest this gent is not at all ugly.

I admit, I watched and I must say, Kurt did a faboo delivery and as for his looks, they are average at best, but it was those gamey gnarly teeth that were a distraction, yowers! And yes he should win!! Sidenote: I thoroughly enjoy your blog!
see i didn’t watch it, and no pics show his teeth so I can’t see them, but still, talent should count more for music.
He looks like any average guy to me. I like my men to not be prettier than me. Hope he wins.
the one that scares me is the guy/gal from the Netherlands, Jamai. Come on, Netherlands my left foot. I’ve seen Jamai in the whole food store in Cambridge, buying patchouli and all cotton menstrual cups. I’ve heard of gay-seeming straight men, i.e., the metrosexual. But what do you call a lesbian-seeming straight man? The answer is “Jamai!”
i have to say the picture you posted of the guy didnt look so bad, but the other ones on the sight made me have to agree he isnt pretty.
