DNA and Fear
Posted by jen November 30th, 2003 in VBB Presents. 2 CommentsSo… I was discussing the scariest mannequin on earth that I linked an entry or so ago with someone, and I came up with what genetic mistake of nature had to occur to make some human actually look like that.
Things not to do before continuing:
— Do not eat or drink before clicking the link
— You might want small children to leave the room
— You might want to acquire sandpaper or lighter fluid to cleanse your eyes afterwards
You have been warned.
Only those brave souls should pass this point…

2 CommentsEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Posted by jen November 30th, 2003 in Ear Crap. 0 CommentsThe ringing in my right ear is enough to make me take up drinking.
Thursday the high tone was joined by the humm again.
Today, the low hum is gone, but the hight tone is now at least TWICE as loud as the left is. LOUD. my god is is it shrill and loud.
Doctor will be back in the office on Monday. Yay.
Mommy save me!
Posted by jen November 30th, 2003 in Linkage. 2 CommentsSo the scariest mannequin on earth won’t kill me.
Baby It’s Cold Outside

Found this online earlier and being the Swanky music gal I am, thought it was a GREAT version of this old standard. Being it’s a modern rendition, I chose to put it under Music Fix versus Swanky.
Now, I know it’s Steven Page from Barenaked Ladies singing the Male lead vocal, I do not know if the rest of the band are the ones playing the music. Regardless it’s a must have for those who love BNL.
Battlestar Gallatica review

Apparently the new female Starbuck is too:

Ouch.
Why we suck as drivers
Posted by jen November 28th, 2003 in Media Junkie. 4 CommentsGermans drive better than we do.
“Lack of skill–not “speeding”–is the fountainhead of America’s traffic problems. If you disagree, then you’ve got to explain how it is that the Germans routinely drive much faster than we do, yet, miraculously, have lower overall accident and fatality rates.”
Throw in their required driving regimes, and mandatory on road testing (not just eye tests) for people over 60 every two years… and I’ll be all for it.
We all but throw licenses at people in the US. Once I saw a old man in a walker, (being escorted into the DMV by his 70 year old son,) that was too deaf and blind to take direction from the test clerk, and too weak to press his head to the button that fires the eye test machine… and still get a license… I knew things had to change.
Damned AARP. They have so much money to shoot down any changes to the system regarding old people driving.

Boy howdy!
Posted by jen November 27th, 2003 in Linkage. 4 CommentsFor those who are Mac users running Panther and using Mail.app I found a new feature. ONe I have long wished for. I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet.
(I also just checked my still NON-Panther machine and it IS in fact true, I thought maybe I had missed it in Jag. Nope. New.)
When you reply to a mail, you get a grey roundy arrow showing you replied to it. Which is nice.
Now, new in Panther, if you wag the cursor over the arrow, it turns to white arrow in a grey circle, and when clicked it brings up a new window, with… YOUR REPLY!
I can’t say HOW much I have wanted this.
Before, in Jaguar, you had to go to your sent folder to find your replies. (PITA) This is much nicer.
So, here you go, a gift from your Auntie Jen for which to be thankful for today!
Woke up feeling like death. Thanks to my lovely Excedrin I got it the worst of the head pain to go away. Still the nose and throat feel like crap.
Later, I notice the ear is Humming again, the high tone has left replaced once more by the low hum.
Here we go again. The doctor will likely be out till Monday. Yay.

Gobble gobble! Banoffi Pie!
Posted by jen November 26th, 2003 in Recipe Box. 6 CommentsWhen I was in London last year I fell for Banoffi pie. It was everywhere. Hagen Daz even has it as a flavor there.
It’s a toffee banana pie. Very rich, delish and gooey.
So, this year wanting to make something different for Turkey day festivities, I decided it was time to try it.
I had looked up recipes on Google (both major spellings) and found it amazingly simple.
Here we go… click “more” for recipe.

Panther has arrived.
Let me install it on Howie the TiBook and see you on the flip side. If all goes well, Marcus the G4 tower gets a facelift next.
Here’s looking at you kid. (No I usually don’t back up, but Howie gets files across airport on the tower anyway, not much to lose)
The must read expose!

Posted by jen November 20th, 2003 in Jeneral, VBB Favorite. 6 CommentsI’ve posted on this before, but scouting for Mr. Freaky Face’s mugshot I stumbled on yet another entry in bad parental name choices.
Jesse James Hollywood is a bad man. He might have had a chance in life if his name was Chris or Mike. But no. His parent(s) decided to name him after a famous outlaw. Gee, I wonder why he went bad with a namesake like that. I’ve always said this name was a curse on whoever got it, because when your a kid with a name like that, you try to embody it. This is just one more piece of proof.
Once more with feeling
