For my ma.
Posted by jen September 29th, 2003 in Jeneral. 3 CommentsMy mother is getting her hip replaced tomorrow morning. Being that she and Dad are both unemployed, and without insurance, they are footing the bill. Ok, well half, they got the other half covered by the hospital for being in “need”.
Anyway, if anyone had a few bucks and wanted to make an old lady (she’s only 53) happy as can be, feel free to buy her a pressie off her Amazon Wish List as her life revolves around CD’s (believe me) and she won’t be getting too many in the future due to paying for all this.
If charity is what you’re into, pass a little her way.
LP? What’s that?

Be sure to fully explore both of the galleries, you’ll be glad you did.
Finally!

elf”, I said, What this world needs in times of stress and utter social corruption is several animated gifs of monkeys.
Someone send this link to the UN fast.
That’s original… not.

Gee, that sounds just like… oh let’s see… Quantum Leap, Early Edition… more Twilight Zones and Outer Limits than I can name… and I’m sure a X-File or two.
I guess the girl was on Buffy (big freaking whoop, she always seems to act like she has a thorn up her butt), but that leaves me less than impressed since I only watched the show when forced by visiting friends who loved it (Feh).

Try everything, plan a trip (notice the luxurious ports of call they fly into), track your lost luggage – oh hell, just click everything, you’ll be glad you did. Even the Chairman’s letter is funny.

Picture day!
Posted by jen September 27th, 2003 in Jeneral. 5 CommentsWe have a Buddeleia (Butterfly Bush) in the back yard, normally I don’t notice any activity but today the bush was just inundated with Painted Lady butterflies. About 15-20 of the same kind. I ran in to get the camera, being the digital junkie I am.

That pic above is my favorite so far.

Robert Palmer for me, the old Durannie, will always be remembered for being the front man for Powerstation. Enjoy and remember him as I do. He’d like it if you danced.
Kill Bill

I do not like green eggs and ham
Posted by jen September 26th, 2003 in Bitch Session. 3 CommentsI never got Dr Suess. Never understood the allure. (I know I’ll get fire bombs in my comment box for this.)
I had the books as a kid sure, but I didn’t like them. I never got how it was a good thing to give kids beginning to read a book of made up nonsense words to struggle with. Plus I really hated the illustrations. Just freaky.
Although I am convinced Cat in the Hat inspired rap fashion… that watch of his? And the big freaky hats, see rap in the 80’s thank you.
And I blame Dr Suess for supplying a large part for Snoop Doggy Dogg’s Vocabulary. “
hiznit” is SUCH a Suess sounding word, think about it. It sounds like some furry headed race running around in longjohns.
Anyway they made a movie of The Cat In The Hat – to me it’s only remarkable that Jim Carrey is not the star (Thank you Jebus). Mike Myers plays the Cat.
So, no I do not like green eggs and ham,
I do not like them in boat, I do not care if they sink or float.

Very Big Laboratories, Middletown OH Lab
Test subject: “Zelda”
Species: Feline – domestic short hair, black female. After repeated testing I have determined that when the subject is exposed to repeated and sometimes alternating centrifugal forces – via a very quickly rotating padded platform (OKA “Office Chair”
– exhibits no symptoms of discomfort or dizziness even after repeated instances of exceeding five minutes of vigorous spinning.
I have been conducting these tests for several months now and while subject vomits often out of the laboratory, she has yet to during experiment. Very curious.
In fact, I think she appears to enjoy such activity as moments later subject was still on said platform sleeping comfortably. More comfortably, if that is possible. Testing equipment remains subjects favorite location for rest.
Need more testing.
Marketing + Men = Stupid
Posted by jen September 25th, 2003 in Media Junkie. 2 CommentsI’m sure when they cam up with the packaging for Avlimil (AKA Lady Viagra) they didn’t intend for it to resemble birth control pills. Right?
Yeah, that’s good, give women a Rx to help them get their ‘groove’ back on and then smack them in the face with the reminder they could get knocked up for getting the gift of Nympho.
Was there anything wrong with a ‘bottle’? you know, small thing, fits in a purse… no make them punch 30 individual sealed foil cells.
Sometimes you just want to call these folks and arrange a ‘chat’.

Well I didn’t see any singing dancing bananas in the trailer – so far so good.
(Joeseph Fiennes would make a singing dancing banana worth it though…![]()

Posted by jen September 24th, 2003 in Media Junkie. 6 CommentsI am tired of hearing about the new series NBC stole from the BBC and Americanized (aka ’suckified’
called “Buggering”, er… I mean “Coupling”.
Not interested in pretty city whores. Don’t care. Not gonna. Can’t make me.
Don’t care that the brits like it. Let PBS pick it up since they accept any piece of tape from the UK with and accent as high art.
Not like NBC will keep it on anyway, they’ll just cancel it in 12 weeks for some “how many hard boiled eggs can you stuff up your butt” reality show.
Taliban, Al Queda, Microsoft…
Posted by jen September 24th, 2003 in Media Junkie. 0 CommentsA computer industry group critical of Microsoft plans to release a report Wednesday asserting that the software giant’s dominance in key technologies threatens the national infrastructure.
Thats right, MS is a threat to national security.
No comment on how Dept. of Homeland Sedition chose MS over any other system for it’s offices. Nope, not one…

Anyone else bugged that it’s the only app spared the “i” and thus it’s not named iMail?
Yeah, me too…
Designer Ego
Posted by jen September 24th, 2003 in Linkage. 3 CommentsHGTV has this new show called “Designer’s Challenge” and I love the commercial for it.
They show the homeowners interviewing the designers they have to choose from. Each introduces themselves…
Designer 1: (male) I’m a designer.
Designer 2: (female) I’m a designer.
Designer 3: (in trendy specs, examining his nails) I prefer the term ‘Interior Dramatist’
That makes me crack up every time I see it.
So, from here on out I want to be called an “Internet Dramatist” (or maybe it should be “Desktop Dramatist” with PixelDecor and all).
Yeah… I likes the sound of that.
Jen Segrest
Internet Dramatist
I just got the trendy specs even!
That’s what I call a hairy situation.
