As a web designer it means listings like this should be criminal:
Full time graphic/web designer wanted for design studio in lower manhattan. Two to three years experience, plus bachelor’s degree. Must know HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and Flash. Director, Premiere, PHP/SQL, Indesign, and 3D Studio Max a plus.
$6.50/hr to start. Mondays to Saturdays 8am to 6pm.

holy crap.. I’m hoping that is a misprint and they forgot to put another number in front of the 6.. geesh… you can make more at mcdonalds and that doesn’t require a high school diploma… hell, even I get paid more than that…
that’s not too far from the truth for most web jobs now. the whole dot come bust and all those qualified people who are employed right now doesn’t help matters any.
my GOD. ::breaks down shuddering:: the thing is, there just may be people so desperate at this point that they’d actually take this job. :
hudders again:: I’d rather keep sporadically freelancing that cope with that monstrosity!
Wow, that’s depressing. At least there are web design jobs, I bet there’s nothing out there for print media.
Egads. Looks like I’ll be staying in programming for a little while longer…

people doing that at my company are making $70-90K, especially the PHP, 3D knowledge.

what’s sad is that i’d take that job…
